Facebook post from Thomas Greene: VCFA buildings under contract

Facebook Post by Thomas Christopher Greene, Founding President Emeritus at Vermont College of Fine Arts • February 13 2023 • Original Post

Founding President Emeritus at Vermont College of Fine Arts, Thomas Greene posted about the contract to sell the Crowley Center.

From Greene’s post:

“This is the Crowley Center at VCFA. It was built in 2016. The first new building on that campus since 1965. Yesterday, VCFA leadership announced that they had a deal to sell it, the historic Gary Library next to it, the nearly 100 year old magnificent building next door to it, and the Martin House, dating back to the civil war, to a group that will turn it into a spa and a Russian bathhouse, apparently.”

and:

“[T]he campus is being parceled off. Essentially, sold to the highest bidders. Paradoxically, VCFA was founded precisely to prevent this very action.

Finally:

“I have so much more I'd love to say about the library but for now I want to park this here. When legacies are actively being erased, it's important to make a bookmark sometimes. Louise Crowley Center. 2016-2023.”
